What a pod is
A pod is a stretch of the season, usually around six weeks, with its own standings and its own prize. The season-long race still runs. Pods run inside it.
Why pods are good for your pool
- They keep people playing. By Week 8 half your pool can't win the season. They can still win the next pod.
- They let latecomers in. A new player can join at the start of a pod and have something to win.
- They give you more winners. Four pods and a season title is five people with a story to tell.
How to set one up
- Split the season into equal stretches. Three pods of six weeks is a shape that works.
- Set aside part of the pot for each pod, and the largest share for the season.
- Reset the pod standings at the start of each pod. Leave the season standings alone.
An example
Two Tilt pools run it this way today:
- Pod 1: Weeks 1–6
- Pod 2: Weeks 7–12
- Pod 3: Weeks 13–18
Each pod has its own standings and its own prize. The season standings run underneath the whole way.
